I MADE IT!!!!

Well what a journey I have learnt words I never knew existed my favourites were flickr, del.icio.us, librarything and youtube although very daunting I have manage to bluff my way through. It was a great opportunity to experience all the interesting options that are out there. I might just impress my children with my wonderful knowledge. Thankyou to Millie for all your wonderful help dragging me into the 20th century.

Scarey really, if your a lover of all things computer then todays technology will excite you but I need to know that the love of books will prevail, give me a book any day.

Podcasts

Well getting closer. I have managed to add Hamish and Andy's podcast to my bloglines account yippee!! I do prefer youtude to this but its still and good way of listening to something interesting especially someone who is going to make you smile which I often do driving home from work listening to these two on Fox.

HOT HOT HOT!! I'm loving youtube!! I've chosen my favourite comedian Funny Man "Carl Barron". I love it how he can talk about anything or even nothing and just make me smile. How easy was this to add to my blog as well, great web site will be visiting this again.

Discovering Web 2.0 tools

Not surprising Technorati, Bloglines and Library thing are there mind you I wouldn't have known what they were 2 months ago but I decided to discover sites that I'm more interested in. Like funstuff, guess the google and my personal favourite cocktail builder great sites which I'll be studying in detail later on especially cocktail builder ( I like a good cocktail) Next!!!

Well I'm pretty impressed with myself and have a look at this quality document I have placed on my blog for all to see. Great concept zohowriter and if I have manage to fumble my way through it must be pretty easy.

Learning 2.0 Sandbox wiki

Miracles do happen I have manage with a bit of help place my name on the Sandbox Wiki. How exciting the information supplied is very useful which helps you navigate your head around learning about wikis. Next!!

Wikis

I now understand the concept of wikis it took a while and you can see how useful they can be towards libraries. You can place a document on a wikis and the option is there if you need to change it quickly especially if that document needs updating regularly. I have 2 children in primary school and I also see the advantages in time when they need to do a search for their homework and they need to find a common topic. Links to websites that were useful ie title of books etc.

Web 2.0 Library 2.0

After reading the perspectives the realization that technology is not only here to stay but its changing even more. When internet was first introduced we didn't know if we would become dinosaurs but we have been able to co-exist.Now my concerns are that people will seldom want to visit their branch because they can access everything from home. I live in hope novels will prevail and the love of reading won't be replaced with computer screens.

Useful tool but my only gripe is when you search for a particular item you may find some other interesting and I mean interesting things come up. Not my absolute favourite.

Del.icio.us

Once again this site is terrific to use when your in a hurry and just want to bring up your favourite sites. When I have a bit more time I will add more Australian sites to my Del.icio.us account.

Rollyo

It's great to be able to go straight to a site without having to search all the way through until you find something your interested in. You probably know by now I don't have a lot of time or patience to be searching on a computer so this is a good site.

Library thing

What a terrific site. I have such a love for picture books but I often forget what I have purchased. So when I have time to sit down at home I will be placing my books on library thing. I think I'm going to be shocked just how many I actually have!

Play week

Wow what a teriffic site, I've created some happy easter eggs. I will be coming back to this site for more of a play.

Rss & newsreaders

Finially I'm back up and running and I have discovered another interesting site. It's a great site which provides me with just the news I'm interested in. I have subscribed to some that I can check on occasionally.

Technology

What does technology mean to me. Before today it was getting excited about learning how to text on my mobile. Libraries have come such a long way since I first started it is exciting the possibilities we have to conduct searches for borrowers. In the same token I have children at school who are learning even more aspects of technology.
